Stainless steel (304 or 316) can be less resistant to some commonly used chemicals in hospitals (chlorine, iodine, acids, etc). Stainless steel sinks often have tight-angle folds, and weldings creating stagnation zones and corners where dirt can accumulate, posing a nosocomial infection risk.
