We hinted at it when we launched our soap dispensers: here is our new medical hand wash basin. MP’SMART+ keeps everything that made MP’SMART® a success and adds a skirt beneath the bowl. As a result, the trap, hoses and valve now sit behind a smooth panel, moulded with the basin.
Why put a skirt on a medical hand wash basin?
Under a standard basin, exposed pipework creates nooks and corners. Dust settles there, and cleaning staff have to work around fittings. However, the result rarely reflects the effort. With the skirt, on the other hand, there is just one continuous surface to wipe.
Secondly, there is a visual benefit. In a consultation room, a treatment room or a corridor used by patients, a medical hand wash basin with no visible pipes immediately looks well kept. In addition, for architects, it is a fixture that fits into the design with no extra boxing-in to plan for.

The MP’SMART® essentials, unchanged
- One-piece moulded bowl in sanitary-grade polyester gelcoat, impact and stain resistant
- No overflow and no crevices, rounded edges with no sharp corners
- High splashback and side panels to contain splashes
- Small footprint: 500 mm wide, 425 mm deep, 800 mm high including the skirt, weighing 10 kg
- Supplied with Ø40 mm waste and trap, connection hoses, flow-limiting valve and wall-mounting kit
Two control options
- Infrared electronic, with dual power supply (mains for continuous use, automatic battery back-up) and automatic purge
- Elbow-operated mechanical, to limit contact points with no electrical connection
A medical hand wash basin compatible with our equipment
First of all, the point-of-use filter clips onto the tap in one move. Furthermore, MP’SMART+ takes our thermostatic mixer, UV disinfection kit and our rail-mounted soap and hand rub dispensers.
Where does it fit?
In practice, MP’SMART+ fits into medical and dental practices, consultation and treatment rooms, maternity units, emergency cubicles and corridors. In other words, anywhere space is tight and the hand-wash point is in full view of patients.
Finally, equipment is only part of the answer. That is why the WHO guidelines on hand hygiene in health care remain the reference for your teams’ protocols.
